A study suggests that consuming two glasses of Montmorency tart cherry juice daily can significantly reduce LDL cholesterol and systolic blood pressure, potentially lowering the risk of stroke and heart attack. The juice, rich in polyphenols, also decreases inflammation and oxidative stress markers like CRP and MDA. The research, involving older adults, indicates that tart cherry juice can be a beneficial addition to a heart-healthy diet without increasing calorie or sugar intake. The study was funded by the Cherry Marketing Institute and calls for further research to confirm these findings.
