Space startup Vast, backed by cryptocurrency billionaire Jed McCaleb, plans to launch a commercial space station called Haven-1 to orbit by late 2025 with the help of SpaceX. The cylindrical spacecraft is planned as a replacement to the International Space Station, which is expected to retire in 2030. Vast hopes to receive funding from NASA by 2028. Haven-1 is expected to last three years and support three 30-day missions. Vast is in talks with potential astronauts for the initial mission.

Aerospace startup Vast plans to launch the world's first commercial space station, Haven-1, atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in 2025 at the earliest. The company, founded by cryptocurrency billionaire Jed McCaleb, aims to eventually launch and operate 2001-A-Space-Odyssey-style spinning space stations holding hundreds of people by the 2040s. Vast has started selling tickets for its first crewed mission and wants its customers to come from domestic or international space agencies or wealthy individuals involved in science and philanthropy. Visitors will stay for up to 30 days and receive training to execute emergency procedures inside SpaceX's rocket, the Haven capsule, and be provided with a spacesuit and rations for the trip.

California-based startup Vast plans to launch the world's first commercial space station, Haven-1, using a SpaceX rocket. The company aims to ferry passengers to and from the orbiting outpost, including professional astronauts or tourists. Vast's founder and CEO, Jed McCaleb, is investing $300 million of his own money into the effort. The company plans to leverage the life support systems already developed for SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft. Vast's ultimate goal is to create a massive orbiting space station with artificial gravity that could be launched atop a SpaceX Starship vehicle.

SpaceX has signed a contract to launch the world's first commercial space station, Haven-1, being built by private aerospace firm Vast. The station will be launched into orbit no later than August 2025, and manned crews will use SpaceX's Dragon reusable spacecraft to get to the space station, docking for up to 30 days while in orbit. Vast plans for the initial module to become part of a larger 100-meter-long multi-module spinning space station with artificial gravity. SpaceX will also provide crew training, spacesuit and spacecraft ingress and egress exercises, and conduct mission simulations.

Vast, a California-based startup founded by billionaire Jed McCaleb, plans to launch the first commercial space station in low Earth orbit with SpaceX as its launch partner. The company's first module, Haven-1, will be launched on a Falcon 9 rocket in August 2025, with a four-person crew to spend up to 30 days in orbit. Vast aims to build a 328-foot-long multi-module space station that will spin to produce artificial gravity. The company is seeking to beat competitors like Axiom Space to become the first to send a space station to low Earth orbit.

Vast, a private space station company, plans to launch its first commercial space station, Haven-1, in low-Earth orbit in August 2025. The space station will be launched on a Falcon 9 rocket and four commercial astronauts will travel to the facility on board SpaceX's Crew Dragon vehicle. Vast has credibility due to its funding and technical advisers who had long careers at SpaceX. The company plans to develop the world's first space station with artificial gravity and has a roadmap of its plans all the way out to the 2040s.

Vast is partnering with SpaceX to launch its Haven-1 commercial space station as soon as August 2025, with a follow-up Vast-1 mission using Crew Dragon to bring four people to Haven-1 for up to 30 days. Haven-1 is relatively small and mainly intended for science and small-scale orbital manufacturing. Vast hopes to make Haven-1 just one module in a larger station, and it can simulate the Moon's gravity by spinning. Vast's 2025 target is ambitious and might see it beat well-known rivals to deploying a private space station.

California-based start-up Vast is partnering with SpaceX to launch a commercial space station that could host up to four people for 30 days as early as August 2025. Vast's Haven-1 module would be able to fit inside the nose cone of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, meaning it could be put into orbit with a single launch. The company plans to send up additional modules and eventually build a larger station that would rotate, providing artificial gravity. NASA is funding the development of commercial stations that could replace the aging International Space Station, which is set to retire in 2030.
