The LEAF project, part of NASA's Artemis III mission, aims to study plant growth on the Moon by 2028. Developed by Space Lab, the project will test the effects of lunar gravity, radiation, and light on three plant types in a controlled environment at the Moon's south pole. This initiative follows China's Chang'e 4 mission, which faced challenges with lunar night temperatures. LEAF's findings could inform future lunar agriculture efforts.

NASA plans to spend around $1 billion to deorbit the International Space Station (ISS) as it reaches the end of its service in the 2030s. The agency is also seeking funds to build a new space lab and retire the current model. NASA has requested $180 million to build a deorbit module to dispose of the ISS components over the Earth's oceans. The agency hopes to reduce costs by encouraging private aerospace operators to compete for contracts. The largest portion of the budget NASA has requested will go towards its flagship Artemis mission.
