The two broods, XIX and XIII, set to emerge in mid-to-late May, will be targeted by these wasps, which sting if threatened and can cause minor damage to lawns. The next double-emergence of these broods is not predicted until 2245.

Eleonora's falcons, found in the Mediterranean and off the northwest coast of Africa, exhibit a unique predatory behavior of imprisoning live birds by pulling out their feathers and stuffing them into rocky crevices. This behavior is believed to be exclusive to a specific population on the Mogador archipelago. While some scientists are skeptical, others believe this technique allows the falcons to keep their prey fresh until needed. This behavior is observed during the nesting period between July and October, when the falcons prey on tired migrating birds to prepare for their own migration to Madagascar.

The bobbit worm, also known as a sand striker, is a creepy creature that lurks in tropical waters and can grow up to 10 feet in length. It has razor-sharp teeth and a terrifying mouth that opens up like something from a horror film. While it doesn't prey on humans, its venomous and strong bite can cut a fish in half. The worm buries itself in the sea floor and strikes when it senses prey above it, using its limited vision and small antennae to navigate. Once it captures its prey, it retreats back to its lair.

Scientists have discovered the last meal of a 75-million-year-old tyrannosaur, revealing that it had consumed two baby dinosaurs. The fossil, belonging to a juvenile gorgosaurus, provides solid evidence that tyrannosaurs changed their diet as they grew. While adult tyrannosaurs were indiscriminate eaters, hunting large plant-eating dinosaurs, the juvenile gorgosaurus hunted small, young dinosaurs. The fossil also highlights the different feeding strategies between juveniles and adults, with the juvenile gorgosaurus selectively dissecting its prey. This finding sheds new light on the predatory behavior and development of tyrannosaurs.

A rare fossil found in China's Liaoning Province suggests that some early mammals, specifically a badger-like creature called Repenomamus robustus, may have hunted and preyed on dinosaurs, specifically a species of plant-eating Psittacosaurus. The fossil, dating back to around 125 million years ago, shows the two animals locked in mortal combat, providing evidence of actual predatory behavior by a mammal on a dinosaur. The discovery challenges the notion that dinosaurs had few threats from their mammal contemporaries during the Cretaceous period.

A fossil discovered in China's Liaoning Province shows a mammal, Repenomamus robustus, attacking a Psittacosaurus dinosaur, challenging the notion that dinosaurs ruled the land. The mammal's predatory behavior is a first-of-its-kind evidence of a mammal preying on a dinosaur. The intertwined skeletons and completeness of the fossils suggest the find is legitimate, and experts believe the attack was preserved when the animals were caught in a volcanic flow. This discovery overturns the traditional understanding of dinosaur dominance.
