"States on High Alert as West Nile Virus Strikes Residents"

Health officials in several states, including Georgia, Maryland, Texas, and Kansas, have issued alerts about the West Nile virus after detecting cases among residents, some of which have resulted in deaths. The Tri-State Area is preparing for more severe weather and possible flooding as heavy rain and storms are expected on Sunday. Severe weather threat looms over Nebraska for Friday.

The Omaha area is at an enhanced risk for severe weather, including tornadoes, large hail, and damaging wind on Friday afternoon and evening. Storms could develop anytime after 3 p.m. in eastern Nebraska and quickly move north and east into the evening. The best chance for impacts in the Omaha metro will be between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. It is advised to have more than one way to receive severe weather alerts if attending outdoor events.
