"Europe's Ariane 6 Rocket: Successful 8-Minute Engine Burn and Hot-Fire Test"
Europe's new Ariane 6 rocket will undergo a crucial eight-minute engine test today, simulating a normal flight into space. The test will be the longest "full-stack" run yet for the rocket's lower liquid propulsion module equipped with a Vulcain 2.1 engine. If successful, the Ariane 6 is expected to debut in 2024, replacing the retired Ariane 5. The rocket will be powered by a single Vulcain 2.1 engine and will feature an upper stage with a Vinci engine, along with solid rocket boosters. The test will take place at Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana and can be watched live via the European Space Agency's coverage.
