Point Nemo, located in the South Pacific Ocean, is considered the most remote place on Earth, with the nearest humans potentially being on the International Space Station. It serves as a space cemetery, where discarded spacecraft and satellites crash into the ocean. Despite being uninhabitable, the location preserves space debris in pristine condition, making it a potential site for future scientific study.
A luxury cruise ship carrying 206 people has run aground in remote eastern Greenland, with the nearest help by sea days away. The Danish military's Joint Arctic Command (JAC) stated that there were no reports of injuries and no immediate danger to human life or the environment. The JAC's nearest unit is expected to reach the grounded ship by Friday morning local time at the earliest. The cruise ship, Ocean Explorer, operated by Australian cruise operator Aurora Expeditions, offers trips to remote destinations and everyone on board is reported to be safe and well.
