"Unearthing Pompeii's Spectacular New Frescoes: A Glimpse into Ancient Roman Banquet Rooms"
Archeologists in Pompeii have uncovered stunning Roman frescoes in a banquet hall, depicting scenes from mythology including the Greek god Apollo trying to seduce the priestess Cassandra and Prince Paris meeting Helen of Troy. The frescoes, among the finest at the site, are being protected with temporary roofing and plaster glue. Other recent discoveries include a smashed fresco puzzle, skeletons of possible trapped slaves, and a frozen-in-time construction site, shedding light on the lives of the city's inhabitants before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
