Unveiling the Unexpected Interior of a Spacesuit

A Reddit user shared a photo revealing the inside of a spacesuit worn by Russian cosmonauts, showcasing a panel filled with tubes, gas canisters, life support systems, and thermal control systems. The suit opens at the back like a door, allowing astronauts to easily dress themselves. The Oslan suit, in use since 1973, has undergone minor upgrades and is designed to be self-dressable. In contrast, American spacesuits consist of separate torso, trouser, and helmet pieces.

Cosmonauts Encounter Toxic Coolant Mishap During ISS Spacewalk

A coolant leak from a radiator attached to the International Space Station (ISS) interrupted a spacewalk by Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub. The leak occurred while the cosmonauts were inspecting a backup radiator on Russia's Nauka laboratory module. Although the coolant did not reach their suits, the cosmonauts were instructed to leave the area for safety. This is the third incident of a coolant leak from Russian hardware on the ISS, raising concerns about the integrity of the equipment. NASA claims that operations on the ISS are unaffected, with rescheduled spacewalks planned.

International Space Station Mission: NASA Astronaut and Russian Cosmonauts Launch

A NASA astronaut, Loral O'Hara, along with two Russian cosmonauts, Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub, launched aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to the International Space Station (ISS). This marks the first time Russia has launched astronauts to the ISS in nearly a year. The crew will take over operations from the current trio of crew members who have been on the space station for almost a year. The launch comes after a coolant leak in the previous Soyuz spacecraft, MS-22, caused by space debris, left the crew stranded on the ISS. NASA's partnership with Roscosmos is crucial for the space station's operations and scientific research.

Russian Cosmonauts Conduct Live Spacewalk Outside ISS

Two Russian cosmonauts, Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin, will conduct a spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS) today. They will attach debris shields to the Rassvet module and test the sturdiness of a work platform attached to the European robotic arm. This will be Prokopyev's eighth spacewalk and Petelin's sixth. The spacewalk can be watched live on Space.com or NASA's website.

Russian cosmonauts complete successful spacewalk to replace ISS equipment.

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin spent six hours outside the International Space Station to dispose of three no longer needed devices, including a spent science experiment, and install new hardware, including a mono block for a new high-speed data unit. They also photo documented the condition of the plume deflectors at the aft end of Zvezda service module for later analysis by Russian engineers on the ground. The spacewalk ended with Prokopyev and Petelin back inside Poisk after working for 6 hours and 24 minutes in the vacuum of space.

ISS Spacewalk: Russian Cosmonauts Discard Old Equipment.

Two Russian cosmonauts spent six hours outside the International Space Station on Thursday, cleaning up the exterior of the orbiting laboratory by removing and tossing overboard a trio of no longer needed devices, including a spent science experiment. The spacewalk also included the installation of a new stanchion for high-speed telemetry equipment and the retrieval of a micrometeoroid impact experiment that had been mounted outside the space station for a number of years.

Russian Cosmonauts Conduct Spacewalk Outside Space Station.

Two Russian cosmonauts will perform a spacewalk outside the International Space Station today to replace science and communications equipment on the station's Zvezda and Poisk modules. This will be their fifth spacewalk together and the ninth conducted outside the ISS so far in 2023. The spacewalk will last roughly seven hours and can be watched live on NASA's website.

Russian cosmonauts successfully deploy vital radiator during ISS spacewalk.

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin completed a 5-hour spacewalk to activate a radiator that they earlier helped relocate outside of the International Space Station. The radiator was deployed on the Nauka module, and the cosmonauts also installed two gap spanners on the European Robotic Arm and completed a few "get-ahead" tasks for future spacewalks. This was the third and last in a series of spacewalks to outfit the exterior of the Nauka module.

Russian Cosmonauts Perform Spacewalk and Deploy Radiator on ISS

Two Russian cosmonauts, Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin, will perform a spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS) today to deploy and activate a radiator they installed on April 19 during a previous spacewalk. The spacewalk is expected to last about seven hours and will be the third one conducted by the duo during Expedition 69. The Nauka module, a relatively new addition to the ISS, will be the focus of the spacewalk. NASA will provide live coverage of the event.

Spacewalks and Astronauts: Recent Updates from the ISS

Two Russian cosmonauts successfully completed a seven-hour spacewalk outside the International Space Station, relocating an experiment airlock from the Rassvet module to the Nauka science module. During the spacewalk, they also released approximately 11 pounds of used hardware, which harmlessly burned up in the Earth's atmosphere. The relocated airlock is intended to deploy Russian experiment pallets and satellites from inside the Nauka module.

Russian Cosmonauts Complete Successful Airlock Relocation Spacewalk on ISS

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin successfully relocated an equipment airlock from one module to another on the Russian segment of the International Space Station during a 7-hour and 11-minute spacewalk. The airlock will be used to deploy Russian experiment pallets and small satellites from inside the Nauka module. The cosmonauts also inspected and photographed a radiator they previously repositioned and jettisoned a bundle of spent equipment and no longer needed items.

Russian cosmonauts successfully relocate radiator during spacewalk outside ISS.

Two Russian cosmonauts will attempt their third spacewalk tonight to move a radiator and an experiment module from the Rassvet module to the newer Russian Nauka science laboratory on the International Space Station. The work will take four spacewalks in total, with the last two scheduled for April 25 and May 4. The cosmonauts will wear Orlan spacesuits and be assisted by cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, who will operate the European Space Agency's robotic arm on Nauka.
