US CFTC Enhances Crypto Oversight with Nasdaq Surveillance and New Regulations for Non-U.S. Exchanges

The CFTC's Division of Market Oversight issued an advisory clarifying the registration framework for foreign boards of trade (FBOTs), enabling non-U.S. entities to provide U.S. traders with legal access to global markets, including digital assets, and facilitating a return of crypto trading to U.S. markets under clear regulations.

"The Cow": Astronomers Discover Flattest Space Explosion on Record

Astronomers have discovered the flattest explosion ever seen in space, which is shaped almost like a disc. The explosion has been classified as a Fast Blue Optical Transient (FBOT), an extremely rare class of explosion that is much less common than other kinds. Scientists are still not sure about how bright FBOT explosions occur but this new observation could help them understand the rare phenomena better. The researchers plan to conduct more surveys of such celestial outliers with the Vera Rubin Observatory in Chile, hoping to discover more FBOTs to further understand them.

"The Cow": The Strangest and Flattest Explosion in Space

Scientists have discovered a rare Fast Blue Optical Transient (FBOT) explosion, dubbed "the cow," that occurred 180 million light-years away and was flatter than any other star explosion ever seen. The explosion was about the size of Earth's solar system and unleashed particles flying at 10% of the speed of light. Researchers believe the explosion could have happened due to the stars creating a disc shape just before they died or the star collapsing into a black hole and eating the rest of its formation. The discovery challenges preconceptions of how stars might explode in the universe.

"The Cow": A Mysterious and Unprecedentedly Flat Space Explosion

Astronomers have observed an explosion 180 million light-years away that challenges our current understanding of cosmic explosions, exhibiting a significantly flatter appearance than previously thought possible. The explosion observed was an extremely rare Fast Blue Optical Transient (FBOT) — known colloquially amongst astronomers as “the cow” —  only four others have ever been seen, and scientists don’t know how they occur, but this discovery has helped solve part of the puzzle. The explosion, which occurred 180 million light-years away, is the most aspherical ever seen in space, with a shape like a disc emerging a few days after it was discovered. By measuring the polarization, it allowed them to measure the shape of the explosion, effectively seeing something the size of our Solar System but in a galaxy 180 million light years away.

Unexplained 'Cow' Explosion Baffles Scientists.

The first recorded fast blue optical transient (FBOT) explosion, known as "the Cow," has been found to be the most asymmetrical explosion ever seen by astronomers, bursting into space in a flattened, pancake-like shape rather than a typical sphere. The shape of the blast, which is around the size of the solar system and occurred 180 million light-years from Earth, may challenge scientists' perceptions of how explosive events like FBOTs occur. FBOTs are a major puzzle for scientists, and very little is known about them or what causes them.

"Unprecedented Flat Explosion Observed in Space by Scientists"

Scientists have observed an explosion in space that is the most aspherical ever seen, with a shape like a disk emerging a few days after it was discovered. The explosion observed was a bright Fast Blue Optical Transient (FBOT), which is an extremely rare class of explosion. By measuring the polarization of the blast, scientists were able to reconstruct the 3D shape of the explosion, effectively seeing something the size of our solar system but in a galaxy 180 million light years away. The discovery challenges our preconceptions of how stars might explode in the universe and could bring us closer to understanding FBOT explosions.
