Aldi ramps up U.S. expansion toward 3,200 stores by 2028
Discount grocer Aldi is accelerating its U.S. growth, planning more than 180 new stores this year and aiming for roughly 3,200 U.S. locations by 2028. It has outlined an 800-store push through 2028, will add distribution centers in Florida, Arizona and Colorado, and is investing about $9 billion in the U.S. through 2028, bringing its U.S. store count to about 2,800 by year‑end as shoppers lean toward discount retailers amid inflation and competition from Walmart and Amazon.
