The team is owned by Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Mansour, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, and San Diego Padres infielder Manny Machado. The branding features primary colors of chrome and azul, along with yellow, orange, red, and blue. The club aims to sign foundational players and plans to establish an academy in California through The Right to Dream, expanding its operations to the United States.

Walt Disney made an impromptu visit to the village of Norton Disney in Lincolnshire, UK, in 1949 to trace his ancestry and discovered the family crest of his reputed ancestor, Sir William d'Isney, on a tomb in St Peter's Church. As a tribute, the three lions from the crest have been featured in the title sequence of every Disney film since 2006. The crest is also displayed at Disneyland parks worldwide.
