Rare Outburst: Tonight's Mysterious Meteor Shower to Illuminate Skies

A rare meteor shower known as the December phi Cassiopeiids (DPC) #446 could light up the night skies with up to 200 shooting stars per hour. The shower is related to the long lost comet 3D/Biela and last surprised skywatchers in 2011. Earth passing through a dense cloud of debris could cause an outburst or meteor storm, with the peak predicted to favor Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia.
