Dark matter may surround merging black holes, suggests research.

Researchers from The Education University of Hong Kong have found indirect evidence for the existence of dark matter surrounding black holes. The team selected two binary systems and applied the "dark matter dynamical friction model" to computer simulations. The fast orbital decay of the companion stars precisely matched the data observed, indicating that dark matter around black holes can generate significant dynamical friction.
