A severe winter storm is causing hazardous travel conditions across the U.S., with heavy snow, damaging winds, and flooding affecting millions, leading to power outages, travel delays, and increased fire risk, especially in the Northwest, Northern Plains, and Rockies.
More than 5,000 customers in the Wabash Valley are without power Saturday morning due to strong winds following severe storms on Friday night. Duke Energy and WIN Energy are reporting numerous outages across Indiana and Illinois. Crews are working to restore power, but additional outages are expected due to persistent winds. The WIN Energy REMC Annual Meeting has been postponed due to extensive storm damage and widespread outages in the Sullivan District.
