Moderna's Chief Commercial Officer, Arpa Garay, has stepped down from her role, and CEO Stephane Bancel will take over sales and marketing responsibilities. The news caused Moderna's shares to drop by 5%. Garay, who held the position for less than two years, will remain an employee until June 2024. This change comes as Moderna faces weak sales of its COVID vaccine and increased spending on research and development. CEO Bancel will now directly oversee efforts to drive COVID vaccine sales and prepare for the rollout of a vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) next year. Moderna expects $4 billion in revenue in 2024 from the sale of COVID and RSV vaccines.
