After six years of construction, express lanes have opened on the 405 Freeway in Orange County, offering a faster commute for those willing to pay the toll. The $2.16 billion project added new lanes and upgraded streets and ramps. The lanes will utilize electronic tolling, and carpools with two people can use the lanes for free during non-peak hours for the next three years.
