Residents of Southwest Florida reported seeing a big glow in the sky, prompting speculation about its origin. Experts at the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium identified it as the result of an uncontrolled entry of a Chinese satellite launched earlier. Astronomer Jonathan McDowell confirmed that the glow was caused by the leftovers of a rocket launched this week burning up as it re-entered Earth’s atmosphere. This is not the first time China has had uncontrolled reentry incidents, with two occurring last year.
