Kia and Hyundai have agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over a defect that made certain vehicles easy to steal, with the agreement worth up to $200 million. The settlement will provide cash for customers whose vehicles were lost or damaged, as well as reimbursement for insurance deductibles, increased insurance premiums, and other theft-related losses. The agreement also provides up to $300 for customers whose vehicles cannot accommodate the free security software upgrade that Kia and Hyundai rolled out. The software upgrade impacts about four million vehicles nationwide, made prior to 2021, and that requires a regular key, not a fob.

NASA's Curiosity Mars rover has received a software upgrade that includes around 180 improvements, with the most significant being boosted driving capabilities that will reduce wear and tear on the robot's wheels.
