"University of Arizona Unveils Miniature Solar System Showcase"

The University of Arizona has unveiled a sprawling installation called the Arizona Scale Model Solar System, which provides an accurate representation of our solar system's vastness. The installation consists of 10 informational signs placed along the campus, each representing a celestial object and providing details about its mass, diameter, surface gravity, and temperature. The display serves as an educational tool and pays tribute to the university's contributions to planetary science. Visitors can learn about UA research related to each object, and the installation also includes QR codes for visually impaired individuals. The scale model covers over half a mile, taking about 10 minutes to walk from the sun to Neptune.

Sweden's Hidden Solar System: A Celestial Surprise

The Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, is not only the largest spherical building in the world but also the center of the world's largest scale model of the solar system. The Sweden Solar System features models of planets, comets, and other celestial bodies distributed across Stockholm and other parts of Sweden on a scale of 1:20 million. The model currently consists of over 60 objects in 26 locations, with plans to add more scale models in the future.

"Time's History in a Stunning Scale Model"

To Scale: Films created a practical scale model on a dry lakebed in the Mojave desert that illustrates the course of time, covering 13.8 billion years of evolution on 4.3 miles. The project took five years of arduous, repetitive, and unpaid work, but the result was worth it. The model shows how small our lives are compared to the vast ocean of time and the history of the universe.

Visualizing the Immensity of Time through Scale Modeling.

Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh have created a scale model of time in the Mojave Desert, from the Big Bang to the present day, to help us visualize the vast difference between a human lifespan and the age of the universe. The model is a follow-up to the scale model of the solar system they built and a video they made about people seeing the Moon through a telescope for the first time.
