ASUS has launched a refined lineup of AM5 motherboards featuring new technologies, optimized PCIe lane layouts, improved DDR5 memory support, a new BIOS UI, and easier building features, catering to gamers, creators, and PC enthusiasts with models from ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and ProArt.
ASUS has showcased a concept of integrating an M.2 SSD slot into a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card, utilizing the unused PCIe lanes inside the GPU. The M.2 slot allows for easy SSD swapping and is cooled by the GPU's heatsink. Initial testing showed a drop in SSD temperature and similar performance to a Gen 4 motherboard. This concept design could save costs compared to buying PCIe extension cards, but ASUS has not announced plans for consumer market release.
ASUS has showcased a concept graphics card, the RTX 4060 Ti Dual, that features an M.2 SSD slot on the backside. By utilizing unused PCIe lanes, ASUS has found a way to incorporate high-speed SSD storage directly onto the graphics card, providing users with easier access and eliminating the need to remove other components. The card's PCB has been modified to allow airflow from the GPU cooler to reach the SSD, resulting in minimal performance loss and improved cooling efficiency. While not the first graphics card to feature on-board SSDs, this concept could potentially be adopted by the mid-range GPU segment in the future.
