MSI Implements Voltage Restrictions on AM5 Motherboards for AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs

MSI has released a new BIOS for its AM5 motherboards that adds voltage restrictions for the AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs after reports of ASUS motherboards burning up and killing the CPUs due to older BIOS not adding the required voltage restrictions. The latest BIOS only supports negative offset voltage settings on AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs, ensuring that the CPU doesn't get damaged due to overvoltage. MSI has also introduced its Enhanced Mode Boost profile for AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs, which adds more performance while reducing temps and power usage. ASUS has deleted links to all older BIOS releases for its AM5 lineup following the reports of the AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs burning up.

AMD's A620 Motherboards: Affordable Options for Budget Ryzen 7000 Builds

AMD has launched its entry-level A620 platform for AM5 processors, designed to power inexpensive PCs that use AMD's CPUs in AM5 packaging based on the Zen 4 microarchitecture. The platform omits support for overclocking, PCIe Gen5 connectivity, and USB 3.2 Gen2x2. Base AMD A620-based motherboards will not support higher-wattage CPUs. A620-based motherboards support factory-overclocked memory with EXPO profiles up to DDR5-6000 and only feature PCIe Gen4 speeds. AMD only has three AM5 processors with a 65W TDP, and only ASRock currently offers two A620 motherboards in the U.S.
