Marcus Wandt Joins Axiom Space's Third Private Astronaut Crew for ISS Mission

Marcus Wandt, an ESA project astronaut from Sweden, will join the Axiom Mission 3 (Ax-3) to the International Space Station (ISS) in January 2024. This will be the first commercial human spaceflight mission with an ESA-sponsored astronaut. Marcus will serve as a mission specialist under the command of Michael López-Alegría, representing both the USA and Spain as a dual-citizen. The Ax-3 crew also includes Walter Villadei from Italy and Alper Gezeravci from Türkiye. The mission aims to position European nations as pioneers in the emerging commercial space industry. Marcus will conduct microgravity research and educational activities during his up to 14-day stay on the ISS.
