Artemis 2 astronaut discovers rare crater in Saskatchewan

Artemis 2 astronaut Jeremy Hansen helped discover a rare transitional crater on Earth during a geology expedition in Saskatchewan in 2011. The crater, known as Gow Lake, is among the rarest seen on Earth and has analogies with some moon divots, most closely with one named after Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno. The discovery was made during a geology expedition with Western University in Ontario, which Hansen participated in to prepare for spaceflight. Hansen may see the lunar far-side crater with his own eyes when he cruises around the moon in late 2024 on the Artemis 2 mission.
