Gulfstream Aerospace's new G700 business jet has received Federal Aviation Administration certification, paving the way for customer deliveries. The G700 can transport up to 19 people and features whisper-quiet noise levels, panoramic windows, and impressive range and speed capabilities. General Dynamics CEO Phebe Novakovic previously mentioned having 15 jets ready for delivery, and the highly anticipated jet made an appearance at the Singapore Airshow.

Bath Iron Works and its largest union, Machinists Union Local S6, have reached an agreement on a new three-year contract, avoiding a repeat of the 2020 strike. The contract includes the largest pay raises in the union's history, ranging from 4% to 9.5% in the first year. General Dynamics, the owner of the shipyard, has agreed to increase 401(k) contributions and offer a Roth 401(k) starting in 2024. The contract also includes higher health insurance premiums and the elimination of an unpaid week off in December. The previous strike and the pandemic had caused delays in ship production, but production has since increased.

James Crown, a prominent Chicago businessman and philanthropist, has died at the age of 70. Crown, who held important positions in companies such as General Dynamics, Sara Lee, and JPMorgan Chase, was also a crucial early supporter of Barack Obama. He was the chief executive of Henry Crown & Company, the family's privately owned investment firm, and a director of General Dynamics. Crown's philanthropic efforts included donations to Mr. Obama's campaigns and the University of Chicago. He died in a single-car accident at the Aspen Motorsports Park racetrack on his 70th birthday.

The US Army has selected General Dynamics Land Systems and American Rheinmetall Vehicles to produce a final round of prototypes for the XM30 Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle, which will replace the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle as the primary armored troop carrier. The XM30 will carry six soldiers and two crew, and feature a newly designed 50mm chain gun mounted on a turret that can be operated remotely. The vehicle is due to arrive at operational units in 2029.

The US Army has selected General Dynamics and American Rheinmetall to compete for a potential $45 billion contract to replace the Bradley fighting vehicle. The two companies will develop detailed digital designs and prototypes for testing, with a production contract awarded to the winner in 2027. The new XM30 mechanized infantry combat vehicle is expected to have a hybrid-electric engine, carry up to six passengers, and include a 50 millimeter turret mounted gun, as well as other machine guns and anti-tank weapons. The Army has struggled to replace the Bradley over a number of years, with a previous attempt abandoned.
