Micro-Walking: A Simple Path to Weight Loss and Lower Blood Pressure
Linette Miller, a 59-year-old from Orlando, lost 66 pounds by incorporating 'micro-walking' into her daily routine, adding 1,000 steps to her baseline of 1,100 steps per day. Participating in the MOST Walking Study, which examines the cardiovascular benefits of minimal exercise increases, Miller gradually increased her activity, eventually reaching 8,000 steps daily. The study aims to determine effective strategies for encouraging sedentary individuals to walk more, potentially reducing cardiovascular disease risk.
