EU seeks SpaceX's help as Ariane 6 rocket faces setbacks.

The development of Europe's Ariane 6 rocket has gone over budget and is a decade late to the party, failing even at its most basic task of providing independent access to space. The European Commission is now looking to buy rides on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket due to ongoing delays in readiness of the Ariane 6 rocket, which has nearly doubled its development budget to $4.4 billion. The move is a bitter pill to swallow for Europe, which created the Ariane 6 to compete with SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
