Rare Celestial Event: Venus Passes Through Beehive Cluster

On June 12 and 13, 2023, Venus, the brightest planet, will pass by the Beehive star cluster, appearing as a big, bright diamond passing by dozens of tiny distant diamonds. The Beehive star cluster is located in the constellation Cancer and is about 577 light-years distant. Binoculars will be needed to spot the cluster's stars, and telescopes will reveal more of the 1,000 members of the Beehive cluster.
