"Oregon/Washington Coast to Witness Spectacular Meteor Shower from Aug 9-13"

The Perseid meteor shower, one of the brightest meteor showers on Earth, has already begun and will peak between August 9 and 13. Oregon Coast Beach Connection has already witnessed some impressive moments, including shooting stars and a satellite. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is hosting a Perseid Meteor Shower Watch on August 12 at Rooster Rock State Park. The Perseids are caused by debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle and can be seen as bright streaks across the night sky. The best viewing conditions are expected on the evening of August 11-12, with the moon's absence aiding visibility.
