Unprecedented Warmth and Rain Dominate Christmas Holiday
Meteorologists predict record warmth this Christmas holiday weekend, with temperatures reaching the 50s in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota. Persistent southerly winds and warm advection are responsible for the above-average temperatures. Clouds, drizzle, and fog are expected through Friday, followed by dry conditions on Saturday. However, rain is forecasted to move into Minnesota on Christmas Eve and linger through Christmas Day, with rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches expected in southern Minnesota. Some snowfall is also possible in South Dakota and northern Minnesota.
