"Hubble Captures Stunning Image of Dwarf Galaxy in Space"
The Hubble Space Telescope captured an image of UGC 8091, a dwarf irregular galaxy located 7 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. This galaxy is considered a "galactic building block" and may hold clues to the formation of larger, more structured galaxies like the Milky Way. The image reveals interstellar hydrogen molecules glowing from the light of hot stars, as well as older stars and distant galaxies. The data for the image was collected between 2006 and 2021 using Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 and Advanced Camera for Surveys, requiring twelve camera filters to capture a wide range of light.
