"Exploring the Celestial Wonders: A Holiday Globe of Stars"

The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has captured an image of UGC 8091, a dwarf irregular galaxy resembling a sparkling snow globe, to celebrate the holiday season. This galaxy, located around seven million light-years away in the constellation Virgo, contains around one billion stars. By examining the composition of dwarf galaxies like UGC 8091, astronomers hope to uncover the evolutionary links between ancient galaxies and more modern ones. The image was created using twelve filters to capture different wavelengths of light, revealing the diverse features of the galaxy. The data used in the image were collected from 2006 to 2021 by Hubble's advanced instruments.
