Google's Gboard's Gemini Nano Smart Reply feature, which initially supported only WhatsApp, has quietly added support for Line and KakaoTalk on the Pixel 8 Pro, with promises of more messaging apps to come. This on-device AI model provides higher-quality smart replies with conversational awareness, saving time and computational resources by not needing to query the cloud. To enable, users need to download the 1GB Gemini Nano model and enable Aicore Persistent in the settings.
Google is introducing a new feature called Smart Reply to Gmail that uses AI to write whole messages for users. The feature can craft the perfect response based on the emails received and users only need to give a brief description of how they want to reply. The AI-generated message can be edited using a drop-down menu. Google has not announced when the feature will be rolled out. Along with this, Google has also launched new products including a foldable phone, Pixel Fold, a budget phone, Pixel 7a, and a Pixel Tablet that can transform into a smart speaker.
Google Messages is introducing a new AI tool called "Magic Compose" that can create contextually-relevant replies and rewrite messages to fit a theme or style, including lyrics/poems and Shakespearean text. This is a significant enhancement over the existing Smart Reply feature.
