Rolls Royce has secured a contract to provide technology for the next-generation US Air Force's nuclear-blast resistant 'doomsday' planes, part of the Survivable Airborne Operations Centre (SAOC) project. These aircraft, which can resist electromagnetic pulses and nuclear blasts, will serve as mobile command centers for the US President and top military leaders during national emergencies. The project aims to replace the ageing E-4B fleet and is expected to be completed by 2036.
