Japanese chipmaker Renesas Electronics announces a $5.9 billion all-cash deal to acquire electronics design software firm Altium, its second acquisition in a month. The purchase aims to streamline device design and accelerate the process of electronics design for customers. Altium, headquartered in San Diego and listed in Australia, offers digital tools for designing circuit boards.
