A rare rainbow sea slug, Babakina anadoni, was discovered by Vicky Barlow during a rock pooling activity along the Cornwall shore. The brightly colored creatures are typically seen in the warmer waters off the coasts of Spain, Portugal, and France, but one was also found in United Kingdom waters last year. Barlow, a team member with the nonprofit Rock Pool Project, briefly put the slug in a pot to get a better view of its vivid pink, purple, and yellow body before returning it to the rock pool where it was discovered.
An "extremely rare" rainbow sea slug, typically found off the coasts of Spain, Portugal and France, was discovered in a rock pool in Falmouth, UK by Vicky Barlow, a member of The Rock Pool Project. The discovery is part of the "massive changes" sea life has experienced in the Southwest UK in recent years due to warming waters. Marine biologist Ben Holt expects more sightings of the rainbow sea slug, which thrives in warm water.
A rock pooler in South Cornwall discovered a Rainbow Sea Slug, marking only the fourth time the rare creature has been seen in the UK. The Rainbow Sea Slug is usually seen off the coast of Spain, Portugal, and France. The rock pooler, Vicky Barlow, found the creature under a heavy rock covered in seaweed and gathered fellow "nudibranch enthusiasts" to observe the rare creature. The Rainbow Sea Slug is known for its bright coloring and has a unique personality, rearing up to get a better look at its surroundings.
