"Exploring Power Beaming Potential in Venus' Atmosphere: Scientists Investigate Feasibility"

Scientists are exploring the feasibility of beaming power through the dense atmosphere of Venus to power surface probes. Traditional power sources like solar power, batteries, and radioisotope thermoelectric generators are not suitable for Venus' extreme conditions. The research suggests that power beaming using lasers could be a viable option, as certain "frequency windows" in the atmosphere allow for power transmission. However, the technology for this is still under development. The study also highlights the importance of understanding Venus' atmosphere for designing a specific power-beaming system.

SpaceX successfully delivers NASA supplies to International Space Station.

SpaceX's Cargo Dragon spacecraft is set to dock at the International Space Station on Thursday, carrying fresh food, experiments, CubeSats, and a suite of U.S. military tech demo payloads. The Dragon spacecraft is making its third visit to the research lab and is packed with 6,288 pounds of supplies and experiments. The military's STP-H9 payload includes an experiment to establish an optical power beaming link between laser transmitters and receivers, which could lead to applications involving the transmission of electricity from satellite to space, beaming energy from space-based power generators back to Earth, or supporting missions exploring permanently shadowed craters on the moon.
