Google's Pixel Camera update introduces a new Panorama mode to the Pixel 8 series, inspired by Photo Sphere, with an easy-to-use UI, level indicator, and compatibility with Night Sight, utilizing Pixel's HDR+ pipeline for seamless stitched panoramas. The feature is rolled out with Pixel Camera version 10.2, but not yet available on Pixel 7 Pro.
Google is removing the Photo Sphere feature from the Google Camera app version 9.1, which comes pre-installed on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The feature, which allows users to take 360-degree panoramas, debuted in 2012 and remains available on older Pixel models using Google Camera app version 9.0 or older. Some users are disappointed with the decision, as Photo Sphere was a favorite camera feature for capturing unique places. Those with older Pixel models are encouraged to use Photo Sphere before it potentially gets removed from their devices as well.
