Germany has passed a law to legalize the possession, purchase, and cultivation of cannabis for personal use, making it the latest European country to relax its drug policy. The new law allows adults to possess up to 30 grams of cannabis and grow up to four plants at home for personal use. However, selling cannabis remains illegal, and driving under the influence of the drug is still prohibited.
Google is highlighting the personal use case of Google Chat, reminding users that it can be used for messaging friends and family. The company has introduced seven new features for Google Chat, including Smart Compose, message editing, read receipts for group messages, and third-party Chat apps/integrations. While Google Chat has primarily been positioned as an enterprise communication tool, the migration from Hangouts to Chat for free users has allowed for personal usage. However, the focus has been on enterprise usage, and the Chat and Spaces tabs in Gmail are not enabled by default. The challenge for Google is that Messages and RCS already exist for personal communication, and unless something changes, Google Chat will remain primarily enterprise-focused.
Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has used the company's corporate jet for personal trips to the Bahamas, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, and Saint Martin, according to signal data for Goldman's planes and half a dozen people familiar with the CEO's schedule. Solomon reimburses Goldman for most of the cost of those personal flights. Corporate-governance experts say that Solomon's personal use runs afoul of best practices intended to prevent conflicts of interest, even as other Wall Street CEOs use private jets.
