Twitter to waive $1000 verification fee for top 10,000 most-followed companies and organizations.

Twitter will offer a free pass for the top 10,000 organizations by follower count and the 500 advertisers that spend the most on its platform to retain their verified status and checkmarks without paying the $1,000 monthly fee for Verification for Organizations. Twitter is winding down the legacy verified program in April and introducing Twitter Verification for Organizations, which will allow companies to keep their verification and denote specific accounts as "affiliated" for $1,000 a month plus $50 a month for each affiliated account. The move could help keep the steep price hike in verification from affecting the Twitter community too much and is an olive branch to advertisers whose relationship with Twitter has been strained.

Twitter's Latest Updates: Exemptions, Fees, and Open-Source Algorithms

Twitter will begin removing “legacy” verified badges from individuals and organizations approved under the company’s previous criteria. Going forward, only paying customers will be granted the verified check-marks, which are now blue for individuals, gold for brands and companies, and gray for governmental organizations. Twitter will charge businesses and organizations $1,000 per month to retain their verified status, but will waive the fee for its 500 largest advertising clients and for the 10,000 most-followed brands, companies and organizations that have been previously verified.
