Russia Successfully Test-Fires Nuclear-Capable Bulava Missile from New Submarine
Russia successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable Bulava missile from its new Borei-class submarine, Emperor Alexander the Third, off the country's northern coast. The missile, designed to carry up to six nuclear warheads, hit a target thousands of kilometers away on the Kamchatka peninsula. The submarine is part of Russia's efforts to rebuild its nuclear and conventional forces, and the test comes shortly after President Putin signed the withdrawal of Russia's ratification of the global nuclear test ban treaty. The move has strained relations with the US and the European Union, who have been alarmed by Putin's nuclear rhetoric and Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
