"Unraveling the Gilgo Beach Murders: DNA Connections and New Charges"
Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Gilgo Beach murders, will be charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, a Norwich woman who went missing in 2007. Brainard-Barnes, a sex worker, was found dead near Gilgo Beach with a belt around her neck bearing the initials "WH," which is significant as Heuermann had a grandfather named William. Heuermann is also a suspect in the killings of four Atlantic City sex workers, and authorities are exploring potential connections between these cases and the Gilgo Beach killings. Since 2010, at least 11 sets of remains have been found related to the Gilgo Beach killings, and police have been searching for a serial killer.
