"UN Concludes Mali Peacekeeping Mission, Celebrates Achievements and Transfers Timbuktu Camp"
The United Nations has announced the completion of its peacekeeping mission withdrawal from Mali, known as MINUSMA, amid concerns that the departure could lead to increased conflict in the region. The mission, established in 2013 to stabilize Mali after a separatist rebellion and coup, is leaving behind a small team to manage asset transportation and disposal. Despite the withdrawal, other UN agencies will continue their presence in Mali, which has been a focal point for a spreading violent movement in West Africa.
