Marriott is expanding its outdoor lodging options by acquiring Postcard Cabins and partnering with Trailborn, aiming to integrate these into the Marriott Bonvoy program by 2025. This move follows a trend among major hotel groups to offer nature-focused accommodations, as seen with Hilton and Hyatt's recent partnerships. Postcard Cabins offers tiny, nature-focused cabins near major US cities, while Trailborn has locations near popular natural attractions. The expansion reflects Marriott's strategy to cater to the growing demand for nature-immersive travel experiences.

Business traveler Abhishek Singh has become frustrated with hotels that have moved to a housekeeping-optional model during the pandemic, charging high rates but not providing daily cleaning services. Singh has resorted to booking consecutive one-night stays and checking out during the day to attend his conference, in order to ensure his room is cleaned. He argues that he is paying the same rate as guests staying for one night, but not receiving the same level of cleanliness. Hotel workers also express concerns about reduced cleaning, stating that it creates more work and a harder job for them. Some cities, like Washington, D.C., have passed laws requiring daily cleaning, and industry experts believe hotels will eventually return to daily housekeeping as consumer demand decreases for hotels without this service.

The settlement likely means that Irvin's suspension had more to do with the NFL's desire to avoid being involved in the case rather than a violation of the Personal Conduct Policy. Irvin had recently joined Fox and FS1 but will now resume his part-time gig with NFL Network, potentially leading to a larger role with Fox in the future.

The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain Resort in Arizona lost a lawsuit in which it sought a refund on state taxes paid for Marriott award nights that members redeemed. The hotel argued that points redeemed are a reimbursement, not new taxable revenue. However, the court ruled that the Arizona transaction privilege tax is a tax on gross receipts, and reimbursement by Bonvoy to the hotel for nights that members stay on points is new revenue. The hotel pays 4.5% of room revenue to Bonvoy, and members redeem those points for free stays, which the court concluded is taxable gross revenue.
