"Fatal Bite: Pet Gila Monster Kills Lakewood Man"

A 34-year-old man in Lakewood died after being bitten by his pet Gila monster, a venomous lizard. Despite the rarity of Gila monster bites causing death in humans, the man did not survive his injuries. Authorities removed the two Gila monsters from the man's home, as it is illegal to own them in Lakewood, and they have been taken to a wildlife rehabilitation facility.

Multiple Vehicles Collide with Lakewood ALDI, Causing Injuries

The building was determined to be structurally intact, but cracks were visible in the brick facade. The store will remain closed until repairs are made. Lakewood police are investigating the crash.

Multiple Wildfires Spark Pre-Evacuation Notices in Jefferson County

A wildfire is burning in Jefferson County along the hogback south of Interstate 70, leading to pre-evacuation warnings in multiple neighborhoods in Jefferson County and the western edge of Lakewood. The fire, as of about 3:30 p.m. Friday, is 10 acres and growing, fueled by extremely strong winds. Pre-evacuation notices have been issued for the Morrison area, Solterra subdivision, and Red Rock Ranch neighborhood. The fire sparked Friday afternoon in windy weather and during a red flag warning on fire danger in the area. Smoke is visible and firefighters are on scene. Colorado 93 is closed from I-70 to Morrison because of the fire.
