IGN has exclusively shared a deleted scene and a behind-the-scenes clip from the upcoming film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which will be part of the bonus features with the digital release. The deleted scene features an undead character sharing his favorite recommendations, while the behind-the-scenes clip shows how the team brought the dead to life using prosthetics, animatronic skeleton arms, and make-up. The film will be available on Premium Video-On-Demand and to purchase on Digital on May 2, 2023, and on 4K Ultra HD SteelBook, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 30.
The characters from the 1983 Dungeons & Dragons cartoon make a brief appearance in the new D&D movie Honor Among Thieves, and now the movie characters have come to the cartoon in a redubbed old clip from an episode of D&D. The Dungeon Master gives the cartoon characters a quick peek at Honor Among Thieves' heroes, where they happen to see themselves. This is a small bit of inoffensive fun that meshes well with the huge pile of (mostly) inoffensive fun of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
The Art & Making of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, a new book from Ten Speed Press, features concept art and insight into the upcoming movie's villain, the necromancer Sofina, and her ties to the Red Wizards of Thay and their leader, the powerful necromancer Szass Tam. Sofina has her own dark backstory and motivations for teaming up with the Lord of Neverwinter, and is a key player in Szass Tam's plans for domination. The book will be released on April 4.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the first D&D movie in over 20 years, is now available in most theaters with a wider release date of March 31. There's been no official announcement regarding its streaming release, but it's expected to hit Paramount+ in mid-to-late May. The movie follows a charming thief and a band of adventurers on an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, and stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. It's rated PG-13 for fantasy action/violence and some language.
The cast of "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" discuss their camaraderie and the use of K-Y Jelly in the film, including a scene involving a slimy fish. Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, and their costars share their experiences making the fantasy movie, which follows a group of adventurers on a quest to retrieve a lost relic.
Michelle Rodriguez reveals that Bradley Cooper's cameo in the new Dungeons & Dragons movie was filmed separately and added after the fact. In the film, Rodriguez plays the brave barbarian, Holga, who swings by Cooper's home for help, and it turns out that her ex is a Hobbit-sized resident of this mythical landscape. The scene pointedly harkens back to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies. The film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, opens Mar. 31 in theaters.
The upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie, Honor Among Thieves, features a mini-reunion of the cast of the cult-hit NBC series Freaks and Geeks, including John Francis Daley, who stars in both. The promotional lead-up to the movie shows Daley's character, Sam, reuniting with his old buddies Bill (Martin Starr) and Neal (Samm Levine) for a long D&D game. The movie comes from the writing-directing duo of Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who collaborated on the 2018 comedy Game Night.
The cast and crew of "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" played a real-life game of "Dungeons & Dragons" together during rehearsals, which influenced the film's script. The directors incorporated some of the qualities the cast brought to the game into the movie. The film borrows from the Marvel playbook and riffing on fantasy tropes has long been a "Dungeons & Dragons" tradition. The final result lacks the coherence of organically grown fantasy epics, but the film is yet another example of the appeal of parasocial fantasy.
