George Tyndall, the former University of Southern California gynecologist accused of sexually abusing hundreds of female patients, was found dead in his home. Tyndall was expected to stand trial next year on assault charges stemming from a Pulitzer-winning investigation published in 2018. The report alleged that Tyndall had inappropriately touched patients, made lewd remarks, and targeted Chinese students. Many complaints were made about Tyndall's behavior over the years, but it wasn't until 2016 that an internal investigation concluded his methods were outside the scope of what's medically recommended. USC faced criticism for not reporting Tyndall to the state medical board and ultimately settled lawsuits for over $1.1 billion.
