Former USC gynecologist accused of sexual abuse found dead before trial

George Tyndall, the former University of Southern California (USC) gynecologist accused of sexually abusing hundreds of students, has died before going to trial. Tyndall, who was facing over two dozen criminal counts of sexual misconduct, pleaded not guilty and was awaiting trial. His death was confirmed by his lawyer, who stated that there was no evidence of foul play or suicide. Tyndall had been the subject of complaints dating back to the 1990s, and allegations against him led to an $852 million settlement with over 700 women. USC had previously agreed to pay $215 million to settle a class-action lawsuit involving approximately 18,000 women who were patients of Tyndall.
