Former Providence police officer Daniel J. Famiglietti has been charged with DUI resulting in death after allegedly hitting and killing tricycle rider Linda Sherman in North Kingstown. Famiglietti was arraigned and released on bail, and the crash remains under investigation.
Pleasant Hill police successfully used de-escalation techniques to peacefully apprehend a former police officer, Chunlian Saechao, accused of shooting his wife. After a 40-hour standoff, during which Saechao live-tweeted, police decided to leave him alone under surveillance instead of forcefully capturing him. They changed tactics after deeming him not to be a public threat, but returned when he began shooting at armored vehicles. Saechao eventually surrendered to FBI SWAT teams without any injuries. Dylan Miller, a former Durango Police Department officer, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child in Larimer County. Miller, who worked for the Durango Police Department for almost two years, resigned to join the Loveland Police Department. He was arrested on charges including kidnapping, sex assault on a child in a position of trust, and unlawful sexual conduct by a peace officer. Nicholas Tartaglione, a former New York police officer and former cellmate of Jeffrey Epstein, has been found guilty of murdering four men in 2015. Tartaglione tortured and strangled one victim before fatally shooting the other three and burying their bodies in a mass grave. He faces a possible life sentence in federal prison. Tartaglione had been one of the first people FBI agents sought to interview after Epstein's suicide in August 2019.
