Microsoft's Edge Copilot AI Falls Short in Summarizing YouTube Videos
Originally Published 2 years ago — by The Verge

Microsoft's AI Copilot in the Edge browser now has the ability to generate text summaries of videos, but it is limited to pre-processed videos or those with subtitles. The feature works by summarizing the text transcripts of the videos rather than the videos themselves. Copilot can also summarize Teams video meetings and calls, as well as any video on Microsoft Stream, but it requires transcriptions. While Copilot appeared to work well in summarizing a YouTube video in a screen recording, it is unclear how well it will work for most publicly available videos. This feature is part of Microsoft's competition with Google in the generative AI race.
